Role purpose: The Senior Video Specialist is responsible for creating high-quality video content and specialized imaging for Lusail Museum's collections, exhibitions, and digital platforms. This role employs advanced techniques including infrared reflectography, multispectral imaging, and 3D scanning to document and analyze collection objects while also producing documentary, promotional, and educational video content. The specialist explores emerging technologies including AR/VR applications and AI-assisted tools to enhance collection documentation and visitor experiences.
Roles & responsibilities:
Video Production and Documentation
- Plan, shoot, and edit high-quality video content documenting the museum's collection, exhibitions, events, and behind-the-scenes activities.
- Create engaging documentary-style videos about collection highlights, artist profiles, conservation processes, and exhibition development.
- Develop educational and interpretive video content for in-gallery displays, mobile applications, and online platforms.
- Record and edit interviews with artists, curators, scholars, and other stakeholders for various museum projects.
Specialized Collection Imaging
- Conduct advanced imaging of collection objects using techniques including infrared reflectography, multispectral imaging, 3D scanning, and photogrammetry to support conservation, research, interpretation, and immersive experiences.
- Develop and implement standardized workflows for specialized imaging processes that ensure consistent quality and documentation.
- Collaborate with conservators, curators, and researchers to determine specific imaging requirements for collection items and research projects.
- Create 3D digital models of collection objects for virtual exhibitions, AR/VR applications, and research purposes.
Technical Management and Standards
- Establish and maintain technical standards for all video, 3D scanning, and specialized imaging outputs.
- Manage video, 3D scanning, and specialized imaging equipment, ensuring proper maintenance, storage, and upgrades.
- Develop and implement digital workflows for processing, editing, and archiving of video and imaging assets in the museum's Digital Asset Management System (DAMS).
- Explore and implement AI-assisted video and image processing tools for content creation, metadata generation, and collection analysis.
- Provide technical guidance on video production and specialized imaging to museum staff.
Project Management
- Manage multiple video and specialized imaging projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
- Plan and coordinate video shoots, including scheduling, equipment preparation, and crew management.
- Develop creative briefs and storyboards for video projects in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage project budgets for video production and specialized imaging initiatives.
Collaboration and External Relations
- Work closely with curators, conservators, educators, and exhibition designers to understand and fulfill their video and imaging needs.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage external vendors and contractors for specialized video, 3D scanning, or AR/VR development requirements.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams on promotional video content.
- Contribute to exhibition planning with recommendations for video, AR/VR, and multimedia elements.
- Research and recommend innovative approaches to video storytelling, immersive experiences, and AI applications in museum contexts.
• Bachelor's degree in Video Production, Photography, Digital Media, Fine Arts, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. Master's degree preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in video production, ideally with 3 years in a cultural institution.
• Advanced proficiency with video editing software and post-production tools.
• Strong visual storytelling and narrative development abilities.
