Key Accountabilities:
Role Purpose
The purpose of this position is to provide preventive care to the General Collection objects in accordance with the International Council of Museums – Committee for Conservation Code of Conduct.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- To assist in the movement and arrangement of the collection in existing and to new storage building and rooms.
- To help in developing and implementing Integrated Pest Management Guidelines and appropriate preventive conservation program for the Department.
- To use QM CMS system to document and improve departments documentation of pest management and environmental monitoring
- To perform and document in CMS condition checks of the collection objects
- To support developing and delivering regular staff training in the context of the Collection Care.
- To monitor environment condition in the stores and to ensure maintaining appropriate climatic conditions.
- To conduct monitoring of pest activities in the studio and the store in compliance with the Department Integrated Pest Management Guidelines.
- To carry out and advise on appropriate infestation treatments on objects which have concerns or active infestation.
- Do draft and to comply with job related policies, procedures, and standards for museum practices
- To Advise on archival storage and mounting materials for safe uses as necessary.
- To create annual conservation material lists required for carrying out collection care and management
- To assist in providing advice and guidance for colleagues as to the correct handling and storage and transportation requirements to promote best practices throughout the Department for the long-term preservation of its collections.
- To record all conservation activities undertaken in accordance with QM documentation system.
- Able to prioritize the ability to develop strategies for preventive care of objects individually, quickly, and accurately when project requires.

- Practical and theoretical knowledge in preventive conservation.
- Average understanding and skills of collection management system, preferably KeEMu.
- Knowledge of contemporary practices of time-based conservation and collection care and management.
- Demonstrated strength to coordinate and work with teams collaboratively on complex projects.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in self-motivated and dynamic way to meet deadlines, enjoying freedom to work on one’s own at the same time as follow direction.
- Strong organizational skills are essential, with ability to priorities and organize complex and multiple activities.
- Good writing skills with precise attention to details.
- Personable and engaging in social settings and experienced with public speaking.
- Strong computer and software skills essential, preferably within PC environment (Office 365).
Education, Experience, and certification requirements
- M.A./M.S. from an accredited conservation training program. PhD preferred.
- 12-15years of experience.
