Key Accountabilities:
Role Purpose: Works within Operations Division in close association with Programs & Exhibitions Division staff to provide relevant expertise, including installation and deinstallation of artist studios and exhibitions galleries at the Fire Station, and responsible for day-to-day maintenance of lighting, environmental monitoring etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the maintenance of studios and gallery exhibitions and storage areas.
- Responsible for the transport, handling and installation and hanging artworks for exhibitions and ensuring safe removal, storage, and installation of artworks on display.
- Responsible for carrying out daily visual condition reports for artworks, assessing for damages.
- Liaise with Exhibitions Coordinator and Follow Up Expert for artworks leaving or returning to the Fire Station.
- Supervise and aid where necessary to internal/external contractors working with studios and galleries.
- Provide technical support for storage of temporary collections (environmental monitoring, light focusing, and object conditions). Inform of any maintenance with studios and galleries.
- Overall responsible for the day to day managing of studios and galleries and storage spaces
- Oversees and manages the audio video and lighting programming within the galleries. Ensure a/v and lighting maintenance is completed and records maintained.
- Responsible for identifying burnt out globes and informing Facilities in a timely manner.
- Support the Fabrication Lab Coordinator for installing vinyl wall text and label.
- Responsible for maintenance of the gallery wall text and labels.
- Responsible for carrying artworks and objects for the Fire Station general activities.
- Supervise the artist in residence and Fire Station staff in transporting the artworks and objects to & from the studios and the Fire Station Facilities (fabrication lab, wood shop, and general workshop spaces) & galleries.
- Responsible for general watch over all aspects of the Fire Station galleries.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Knowledge of exhibition Space maintenance, lighting, and installation and deinstallation of artworks.
- Ability to read technical/as built drawings
- Ability to solve problems
- Familiar with studio/exhibition design and able to input/advice as required
- Technical diploma
- 0-4 years’ experience
