Key Accountabilities: 

Role purpose: The Exhibitions Specialist plays a key role in conceptualizing, planning, and executing exhibitions that showcase the museum’s automotive collections and related themes. This position requires a blend of creativity, project management, and technical knowledge to deliver engaging and educational experiences for diverse audiences.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with curators, designers, and educators to develop exhibition concepts and narratives.
  • Manage the planning, scheduling, and execution of temporary and permanent exhibitions.
  • Coordinate logistics for exhibition installations, including layout, lighting, and display cases.
  • Oversee the safe handling, transportation, and installation of vehicles and artifacts.
  • Liaise with lenders, artists, and institutions for borrowed items and traveling exhibitions.
  • Develop and manage exhibition budgets and timelines.
  • Ensure exhibitions meet accessibility, safety, and conservation standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of exhibitions, including condition reports and installation documentation.
  • Support marketing and educational teams with exhibition-related content and programming.
  • Conduct post-exhibition evaluations and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

 

 

  • 9 years of experience in exhibition planning or museum project management.
  • Master’s degree in museum studies, Contemporary Art, Art History, Curating, Fine Art, or relevant fields. 
  • Familiarity with automotive history and culture is highly desirable.
  • Experience with exhibition design software (e.g., SketchUp, AutoCAD) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of museum standards for object handling, display, and conservation.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Good knowledge in historical research methods.
  • Eager to learn and adapt to a multi-cultural environment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Flexible approach to work but highly committed.
  • Excellent organizational ability.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Power Point)
