Key Accountabilities: 

 

Role purpose: The Digital Editorial Specialist is responsible for writing content for QM’s digital products in Arabic. This role works closely with the English editorial team and the Content Planning team to plan and coordinate digital content development and delivery and will research (if necessary), write, and edit material that will be published within QM’s various websites and other digital channels as needed. The role fulfils a critical function in ensuring QM’s digital offer is engaging, informative, and inspiring for its target audiences and that it is tailored for digital consumption and aligned with QM’s quality and editorial standards. The function of this role is to ensure Arabic speaking audiences have a tailored experience with content specifically crafted with their needs, interests and cultural requirements in mind.

Roles & Responsibilities:

 

●    Researches, plans, produces and publishes engaging new content for QM’s digital outputs as necessary that engage and inspire audiences

●    Liaises with stakeholders and in-house team members to decide on new content requirements

●    Develops new copy in alignment with the Digital Experience Content Strategy, using appropriate SEO and Arabic editorial standards

●    Checks content for accuracy and/or liaises with content suppliers for fact-checking, updates, and approvals

●    Oversees layouts (images, graphics, videos and artwork) to ensure optimum presentation of the content within digital content management systems/templates

●    Collaborates with professionals (e.g. web designers, marketing, photographers/videographers) to improve article presentation

●    Ensures published content remains up-to-date across digital outputs

●    De-publishes content as required using appropriate platform CMS

●    Maintains Arabic editorial guidelines, including SEO terms

●    Ensures content complies with copyright and privacy regulations

●    Works within the team to develop a compelling and diverse rolling content calendar for QM’s websites and other digital channels

●    Works closely with the Research & Analytics team to evaluate Arabic content against KPIs and to identify areas of future improvement based on data and feedback insights

●    Keeps track of developments in digital content best practice and in audience consumption behaviours 

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements: 

 

•             BA/BSc in Journalism, Communications, Interpretation or related field

•             5+ years of professional experience

•             Proven work experience as a creative digital/web editor, preferably within culture, heritage, the arts or media

•             Experience with content production for a large-scale website with fast turn-around requirements

•             Experience with diverse content development — including writing compelling short, medium and long-form texts, copy-editing and proof-reading with a high degree of accuracy and aligning to brand and editorial guidelines

•             Excellent writing and communication skills in Arabic

•             Expert editing skills with a demonstrable portfolio of published work that highlights creativity and precision

•             Hands-on experience with MS Office and other industry standard desktop publishing tools

•             Familiarity with search engine optimisation (SEO)

•             Familiarity with content management systems including drafting, approvals, publishing and de-publishing stages

•             Attention to detail and concern for clarity and accuracy

•             Ability to effectively communicate and engage non-specialist audiences via digital channels in Arabic 

•             Ability to use analytics data and audience insights/feedback to improve and enhance content in order to increase engagement and impact

 

Desirable:

•             Experience writing scripts for multimedia outputs including audio and video

•             Experience producing content for multilingual audiences

•             A creative mind and a natural storyteller

•             Capable of researching/assimilating information in order to better communicate the subject matter

•             Highly organised and detail-oriented, taking pride in the quality and consistency of the work

•             Capable of managing conflicting/urgent requirements so as to meet deadlines

•             Able to remain calm under pressure, proactive and solution-orientated and to be an effective team member

•             A clear and confident communicator with the ability to liaise effectively between production staff and content owners/stakeholders

•             Able to write independently and as part of a team
