Key Accountabilities:
Role purpose: Curator provides the expertise on the museum’s collections, areas of cataloguing, research, publications, contribute to display, development of exhibition, website content and learning material.
SDuties & responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and execute all aspects of project development and implementation at the highest professional standards, including research, writing, presentations, budgeting, and coordination with project stakeholders
- Write scopes for exhibition vendors and services
- Conduct tours to explain key exhibition themes to internal stakeholders’ departments
- Review project and consultancy contracts with legal team
- Write exhibition catalog entries, essays and publications
- Publish original research and present at conferences
- Build relationships and professional network with external museums and curators
- Initiate and establish relationships with external and internal stakeholders from concept to delivery
- Represent the museum in all activities in public domain, in line with museum vision and mission
Qualifications/Requirements:
- MA or PhD in Museum or Heritage Studies, Museum Gallery Practices, Design Studies, Architecture, Industrial Design (or other relevant fields).
- 10-12 years of which 5 -6 years of experience in the specialized field
- Proof of independent research, publications and articles with respected journals and institutions
- Proof of academic papers presented at international conferences
- Proof of exhibition development and delivery as sole curator
- Excellent language skills in English (Arabic language +)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills and Microsoft Office.
