Role purpose:
Assist the Head of Digital by:

Providing strong, experience-based Audio-Visual (AV) technical support to QOSM’s museographical AV and digital array.
-
Performing daily start-up checks, preventive and responsive maintenance activities (experience with Watchout blending v4 is essential) to ensure a seamless, high-quality, and up-to-date AV experience at QOSM.

Supporting the future-proofing of digital media exhibits, including content, software, and hardware
Duties & responsibilities:
-
Carry out the Museum’s AV and interactive opening and closing procedures, ensuring all systems are fully operational before public access and properly shut down at the end of the day.

Ensure all visual elements, screens, and projection systems are functioning and displaying the correct content.

Conduct regular (typically every 2 hours) and periodic checks to verify that all galleries are operating smoothly from an AV perspective.

Proactively identify and troubleshoot potential technical and safety issues, implement timely resolutions, and maintain the operational integrity of the Museum’s gallery and exhibition experiences.

Support AV setup requirements for exhibitions.

Plan and execute routine system checks, maintenance tasks, and frontline repairs.
-
Install software and hardware updates or upgrades across physical and conceptual attractions as required.

Upload new content (text, images, and other digital assets) via content management software, in coordination with the Senior Digital Media Specialist.

Maintain accurate work logs, document system checks and findings, and ensure reporting aligns with approved internal systems.

Contribute to quarterly and annual reports on the condition and inventory of AV equipment.

Perform cleaning, maintenance, repair, and necessary upgrades or replacements of low-level server and rack apparatus to maintain optimal performance.

Ensure secure data practices and safe internet usage.
-
Verify that all machines, switches, and appliances are used safely and securely.
-
Maintain a clean, safe working environment and adhere to approved health and safety protocols. Working at height may be required (within 5 meters of the finish floor).

Follow proper safety procedures, including the appropriate care and handling of tools, equipment, and materials.

Inspect equipment, mounts, and supports to ensure compliance with safety standards; immediately report and coordinate the resolution of any issues with the Head of Digital.

Ensure all practices align with Qatar Museums' (QM) policies and procedures.
-
Higher diploma or bachelor’s degree in technology, computing, science communication, or a relevant field.
-
Relevant industry certifications such as CTS, CAT, Crestron/Extron system control (preferred).
-
Programming skills are considered an added advantage.
-
Industry training from recognized manufacturers such as Barco, Sony, or Panasonic (desirable but not essential).

Intermediate understanding of fibre optics used for digital video and USB transmission protocols.
-
Familiarity with X86 computer/server environments operating on Windows 10/11.
-
Basic knowledge of electrical hazards and the ability to identify and report unsafe electrical practices.
-
Strong interest and ability to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.

Enthusiasm for implementing new ideas and improving workflow and gallery best practices.

Good organizational skills and attention to detail.

Self-motivated with a strong sense of responsibility.

Reliable interpersonal conduct, particularly with regard to punctual and precise execution of daily AV routines.
