Key Accountabilities:
Role Purpose: Archaeology Site Supervisor III is a senior-level position responsible for overseeing complex archaeological field projects and supervising on-site operations, personnel, and logistics. The role ensures the proper implementation of excavation strategies, site protection protocols, and heritage compliance while maintaining high scientific and professional standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise all aspects of archaeological fieldwork, including excavation, documentation, and site management activities.
- Coordinate the daily activities of field teams, ensuring adherence to excavation plans, safety standards, and timeframes.
- Provide guidance and technical oversight to archaeologists, technicians, and support staff on-site.
- Manage on-site logistics, including equipment, material handling, and work schedules.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of field documentation, including maps, drawings, field notes, and digital records.
- Serve as a liaison between the site team and senior management, providing regular updates and progress reports.
- Contribute to post-excavation analysis, interpretation of findings, and preparation of technical reports.
- Implement and monitor health, safety, and environmental protection procedures on-site.
- Support training and capacity-building initiatives for junior staff, interns, and visiting observers.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge of archaeological documentation methodologies.
- Strong understanding of fieldwork practices including survey and excavation.
- Excellent writing, communication, and academic research skills.
- Proven record of peer-reviewed scientific publications.
- Proficiency in using digital tools (e.g., GIS, databases, digital archiving).
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
