Key Accountabilities:
Role Purpose
The Department of Archaeology is responsible for the inventory and safeguarding of heritage assets (sites, buildings and objects); a national database for archaeology and heritage data captures and stores these data sets. The Archaeological Object Coordinator is responsible to carry out an efficient and accurate registration of heritage artefacts and Eco facts; he/she has to manage their storage, further research and analysis, and follow up with storage movement.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Registration of objects (artefacts and ecofacts) retrieved during surveys, excavations and conservation activities by QM and Foreign Mission teams according to the established registration procedures developed by the Division.
- Compose accurate objects description.
- Oversee proper labelling, handling and packing of objects.
- Maintain record of objects location in the storage.
- Coordination and recording of object’s transfer/movement for conservation, analysis or exhibit purpose.
- Follow up with researchers when objects are loaned for specific studies and analysis.
- Update the reference collections in the storage.
- Supervise the monitoring of objects condition.
- Support the organization of exhibitions.
- Periodically review and update object’s information.
Qualifications/Requirements:

- Practical and theoretical knowledge of object registration and handling.
- Excavations experience.
- Strong research ability (scientific, academic, etc.) related to archaeological objects.
- Communication in Arabic and English.
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
- Driving license to work on several locations around Qatar.
- Professional and friendly manner.
- Interested in professional development.
- Work experience in the Middle East or the Gulf.
- Knowledge of Gulf archaeology.
Education, Experience, and certification requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant filed.
- 0 – 3 years’ experiences in the field of archaeology, excavation, artefacts and Eco facts documentation, inventory, archiving and storage, museum
- Specialized Courses or training in the field of documentation and archiving, preferable.
